France, Ile-de-France, Ablis. Church of Saint-Pierre
The first mentions of the Church of Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul (Eglise Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul) are found in the documents of 1115. Over the centuries, the church has been rebuilt several times; currently, the architectural composition of the building combines three different styles. The western part, the façade and the nave are in Romanesque style (12th century). The bell tower was erected in the 13th century, while the chapel and choir were erected in the late 14th and early 15th centuries. Gothic windows are decorated with magnificent 16th century stained glass windows. In the 17th century, the nave was enlarged, completely transforming the building, which then included two naves of almost the same size in accordance with the plan of the Dominican churches. The church has been included in the inscrit Monument Historique since June 17, 1950.
